View controller buttons sticks triggers and mapping.

Controller input, live

Connect a controller and press one of its buttons.

Mapping/browser/driver dependent; deadzones may hide physical drift

How to use this test
  1. Press a controller button, start the viewer and exercise buttons, sticks and triggers.
  2. Start the input viewer and exercise the indicated controls.
  3. Stop when finished. Resting axes and mappings need interpretation, not a hardware verdict.
Checks included in this tool
Stick Drift Test

Observe resting controller axis values. A nonzero resting value is an observation. Browser mapping, firmware filtering and intentional deadzones prevent an automatic drift diagnosis.

  1. Leave the controller sticks untouched and observe the resting raw axes.
  2. Start the input viewer and exercise the indicated controls.
  3. Stop when finished. Resting axes and mappings need interpretation, not a hardware verdict.

Reported resting axes may include firmware/browser deadzone; no hardware drift certification

Deadzone Test

Explore visible axis response near center. This filter changes only the displayed position. It does not reconfigure controller firmware or repair drift.

  1. Move a stick around its center while adjusting the visualization deadzone.
  2. Start the input viewer and exercise the indicated controls.
  3. Stop when finished. Resting axes and mappings need interpretation, not a hardware verdict.

Mapping response may include software/firmware deadzone; physical stick displacement not measured

Controller Vibration Test

Try a supported controller haptic effect. An accepted haptic command is not proof that the actuator moved. Your tactile confirmation is recorded separately.

  1. Start the controller viewer, request a short supported haptic effect and report what you felt.
  2. Start the input viewer and exercise the indicated controls.
  3. Stop when finished. Resting axes and mappings need interpretation, not a hardware verdict.

Optional API and device-specific effects; resolved request does not prove felt vibration

How it works & what results mean

How the test works

View controller buttons sticks triggers and mapping. It uses Gamepad API; optional haptic actuator. The workspace shows observations from this browser or asks for your own confirmation.

Understanding your result

Values are the mapping delivered by the browser. Unmapped controls and absent events can reflect browser or driver support. Mapping/browser/driver dependent; deadzones may hide physical drift Missing data, blocked permission and an operation that could not run are shown separately. None establishes a hardware fault.

About this test & common questions

how to test controller buttons and sticks online?

Run a gamepad test to inspect controller buttons, triggers and stick values. The stick drift test helps you observe movement around the resting position.

can a gamepad test confirm controller hardware health?

Browser mappings, connection methods and exposed haptics vary; observed values do not certify controller hardware health.
