Preparing the test workspace…

Visual inspection only; OS scaling, panel settings and ambient light affect results

How to use this test
  1. Cycle the solid colors and look across the whole visible area.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.
Checks included in this tool
Dead Pixel Test

Find visible dead pixels using solid patterns. A persistent dark spot is your observation, not an automated pixel diagnosis. Clean the screen gently and compare several backgrounds.

  1. Inspect white, red, green and blue patterns for a spot that consistently stays dark.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Stuck Pixel Test

Inspect stuck pixels without repair claims. A spot that remains lit may be worth a closer inspection. This tool does not repair pixels or distinguish every panel defect.

  1. Compare black and colored backgrounds for a spot that stays a fixed color.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Backlight Bleed Test

Inspect apparent edge bleed in controlled conditions. Apparent edge glow can vary with panel technology, viewing angle, brightness and room light. It is a visual observation rather than a measured luminance defect.

  1. Choose black and inspect the edges at your normal viewing angle and a comfortable brightness.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Screen Uniformity Test

Compare visible brightness and color uniformity. Look for areas that appear brighter or differently colored. Browser patterns cannot measure calibrated luminance uniformity.

  1. Compare gray and white across the screen without changing your viewing position.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Gradient/Banding Test

Inspect gradients and visible banding. Banding can arise in the signal path, browser rendering, screen settings or panel. A visual gradient cannot isolate which layer caused it.

  1. Inspect the black-to-white gradient for abrupt visible steps.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Black Level Test

Distinguish near-black patches. The labels are digital RGB reference values, not measured display luminance. Ambient light and black-level settings affect visibility.

  1. Compare the numbered near-black patches and note which adjacent levels you can distinguish.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Visual inspection only; OS scaling, panel settings and ambient light affect results

White Saturation Test

Distinguish near-white patches. If neighboring patches appear identical, review brightness and contrast settings. The browser cannot certify clipping in the physical panel.

  1. Compare the near-white patches for highlights that merge together.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Visual inspection only; OS scaling, panel settings and ambient light affect results

Contrast Test

Inspect visual contrast patterns. This is a contrast pattern for manual inspection. It does not measure a panel contrast ratio or replace a colorimeter.

  1. Inspect the alternating black and white reference patches.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Visual inspection only; OS scaling, panel settings and ambient light affect results

Gamma Test

Compare visual gamma reference patterns. A visual match is only a rough gamma reference. Scaling, color management and panel settings can alter the appearance.

  1. Compare the alternating line reference against the labeled gray patches at normal zoom.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Visual approximation only; browser color management and scaling affect comparison

Sharpness Test

Inspect text and line sharpness. CSS pixels, zoom and OS scaling affect fine patterns. This is visual inspection, not a measured modulation-transfer test.

  1. Inspect fine lines and small text for visible halos or blur.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Visual inspection only; OS scaling, panel settings and ambient light affect results

Fullscreen Test

Exercise fullscreen entry and exit. A successful transition confirms browser fullscreen behavior only. On unsupported platforms the contained pattern cannot inspect areas hidden by browser chrome.

  1. Choose Enter fullscreen, then use the visible Exit control or your browser’s escape gesture.
  2. Enter fullscreen if your browser supports it. Inspect the entire visible area.
  3. Report only what you can see. Use Exit or Escape to leave the pattern.

Only confirms browser fullscreen state; iOS and embedded context behavior needs verification

How it works & what results mean

How the test works

Inspect display colors and visible defects. It uses DOM/CSS/Canvas; Fullscreen optional. The workspace shows observations from this browser or asks for your own confirmation.

Understanding your result

Color patches help you inspect visible defects, while brightness, viewing angle and ambient light change what you see. Visual inspection only; OS scaling, panel settings and ambient light affect results Missing data, blocked permission and an operation that could not run are shown separately. None establishes a hardware fault.

About this test & common questions

how to check a screen for dead pixels online?

Use this screen test to inspect solid colors, gradients and contrast patterns. A dead pixel test or monitor test needs your own visual inspection.

can a screen test fix dead pixels?

Patterns help you look for visible defects; they cannot inspect pixels automatically or repair a screen.
